What's on / The History of the Museum / Friends of the Museum / Yorkshire Dales Young Archaeologists Club


Housed in the former Hawes Railway station and more recently extended to include a purpose built museum complex, including circular exhibition/lecture theatre.

The museum displays an era of the dales way of life and traditions long gone. These include vetinary, leadmining, knitting, agriculture, wartime, cheesemaking and much, much more.

  • Changing exhibitions and hands-on exhibits.
  • Children visit free.
  • Months Open: Jan-Dec
  • Opening Times:10am - 5pm daily excluding Christmas

Car parking charge

All car parks are pay & display. Daily charges are currently as follows:

  • £2.20 for up to two hours
  • £3.20 for over two hours

Vehicles requiring more than one space (caravans, vehicles with trailers etc):

  • £4.40 for up to two hours
  • £6.40 for over two hours
