Restaurant Extravaganza at Sycamore Close Bainbridge

In The Beginning Wednesday 2nd November 2005

This is something the Day Centre at Sycamore Close has been planning for months.

To cook our own 4 course meal and serve it as a restaurant experience with fresh table arrangements co-ordinated tableware, wine and candles etc.
Please Note: this activity is a one off.

We spent weeks  planning and choosing the menus and preparing puddings for the meal using freezers etc.

First thing Wednesday morning all gathered in and ready to go.
Two tables were employed on pulling and peeling the sprouts, peeling and cutting the  parsnips and potatoes.
Another table made the fresh table arrangements and folded all the napkins ready for lunch.

The mint sauce and the apple and blackberry pies were made by members the previous week.

Angela made the Lemon Meringue Pies at 6.00am in the morning and Liz cooked the lamb the night before. It was roasted with garlic and rosemary. (Donated by McIntyre Meats)

Brian, Angela’s partner made the pan of mashed potatoes at home and brought them in. ( due to lack of space in DC oven)

“I think they are waiting for this table Stan”

Edgar dressed and ready to give his opening speech.

  • roast potatoes
  • mashed potatoes
  • roast parsnips

For the sweet course

  • Blackcurrant cheesecake
  • Homemade Lemon Meringue Pie
  • Home made Blackberry and apple pie with custard or cream
  • Red and White wine or soft drinks

A passing sister, Christine Garrett had a slice of lemon meringue pie as she passed by. It is the second time she has tried it and said that this one was definitely the best.
