Wesleyan Chapel Bowbridge
A charming spot to visit from Askrigg is the hamlet of Bowbridge,1 mile to the west of the station. It takes its name from the very ancient bridge close to the fall called Bowbridge Force. An abbey stood near this spot in the 12th century, and it is thought that the oldest part of the bridge was built by the monks ere there migration to the fertile vale of Jervaulx. The exceptionally fine trees which overhang the Force give the fall a characteristic of its own.
