Haytime In The Yorkshire Dales

Flower Power : Hay Time in the Dales

Staff at the Dales Countryside Museum are currently working on their summer family exhibition, “Flower Power: Hay Time in the Dales”. This free exhibition will run from July 25 to September 3 and will be part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority’s Hay Time Festival.

The exhibition will feature banners created by groups from within and outside the Yorkshire Dales National Park with our outreach officer, using all aspects of hay time as inspiration. There will also be hands-on exhibits, digi-stories and oral history from local people and activities to keep children of all ages busy.

If you have memories or photos of hay time and would be willing to share them, please get in touch with staff. We will make an arrangement to visit you to record your impressions of hay time, either in the past, or now!

The Yorkshire Dales Hay Time Festival 2008 includes over 100 events, walks and talks celebrating the wonderful diversity of plant and animal life to be found in the traditional hay meadows of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. There’s something for everyone from Teddy Bear’s picnics to identifying flowers on limestone hills, from dusk lantern processions looking out for moths and bats to guided walks through some of the finest traditional hay meadows in the Dales. Join us for a truly memorable experience!
